DUE TO COVID-19 THE COURT HAS THESE OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO YOU UNTIL
FURTHER NOTICED:
DRIVING SAFETY COURSE AND DEFERRED DISPOSITION
Most moving violations that are not set for trial can be disposed of by either Driving Safety Course (DSC)
or Deferred Disposition.
DRIVING SAFETY COURSE 25 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER, THOSE WHO ARE UNDER 25 YEARS PLEASE
REFER TO DEFERRED DISPOSITION
Can be taken if not taken in last 12 months.
Before taking the Course-Mail in a payment of $127.00 to the court INSTEAD of your ticket
amount, a copy of valid Texas Driver’s License, proof of insurance (you as an authorized driver
NOT the Vehicle) and copy of driving record (request 3-A online with DPS).
You will receive documents if approved with a date for completion, please sign and return
You will pay for and complete the Driving Safety Course with a third-party provider.
SUCCESFUL COMPLETION OF DRIVING SAFETY COURSE WILL USUALLY PREVENT VIOLATION
FROM APPEARING ON YOUR DRIVING RECORD
Driving Safety Course cannot be taken for:
● Offenses committed in a construction work maintenance zone when workers are
present
● Traffic offenses committed by a person with a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
● Passing a school bus
● Leaving the scene of an accident
● Speeding 25 mph or more over the limit or 95 m.p.h. or more
DEFERRED DISPOSITION
You will pay full fine and fees to the court.
Those under 25 years of age you will have a CONDITION TO TAKE A DRIVER’S SAFETY COURSE
SUCCESFUL COMPLETION OF DEFERRED DISPOSITION WILL USUALLY PREVENT VIOLATION FROM
APPEARING ON YOUR DRIVING RECORD
Deferred Disposition is available for all fine-only offenses except CAN NOT be received for:
● Traffic offenses committed in a construction work maintenance zone when workers
present
● A violation of a state law or local ordinance relating to motor vehicle control, other
than a parking violation, committed by a person who holds a commercial driver’s
license; or held a commercial driver’s license when offense committed
DISMISSAL of TICKETS
You MAY be eligible to have your ticket dismissed if your ticket was received because of a defect
with your vehicle, expired registration, etc. Proof these issues were remedied must be provided
TODAY if a dismissal is to be granted. If you believe your ticket should be dismissed, please
provide any documents or other proof to the prosecutor for consideration.
Tickets for No insurance can be dismissed only with proof of insurance that was already in effect
at the time you received your ticket. Insurance bought after will not help you.
